Terry Fox Run - September 25th

Today we did the Terry Fox Run. It was so fun but it was also long and tiring. Every time our bodies were hurting, we thought about how much running Terry did and this inspired us to keep going. We ran for Terry today, and we know that he would have been proud of us. Although it was tiring, we felt that we raised a lot of money for cancer research. It was pretty warm so a lot of us were sweating but besides that, it was the best Terry Fox Run ever!

Geography & Mapping - September 24th

It's crazy how much we've learned in geography this year. So far we have learned about the equator, Prime Meridian, countries, oceans, continents and a whole load of other things. When we were learning about longitude and latitude we were doing such a great job that Ms. Clark even gave us licorice lines of longitude and latitude. We think everybody in 5C enjoyed learning about geography and doing mapping.

25th Birthday Celebration - September 10th

Today we had a 25th birthday celebration for Collingwood. We had so much fun singing and doing our jobs. At the end of the assembly, 500 balloons dropped from the ceiling and everyone got one!

We thought that singing in front of all the people in the assembly was so much fun! We also really liked getting a balloon and singing "Happy Birthday" to Collingwood. It was so funny when everyone screamed when the balloons fell; it was sooooo much fun! It was the best assembly ever!!!

Opening of School Assembly - September 9th

This morning Wentworth held the first assembly of this school year, and the students from Class 5C emceed the event and hosted all the K-3 classes. Here's what our five emcees had to say about their experience:

"It was fun and I want to do it again!" - Alison

"It was weird having all those eyes looking at me while I was speaking. It was fun!" - Tyler

"I was nervous at first but once I got up there I wanted to do it again!" - Julia

"It was a lot of fun, and I wasn't nervous at all!" - Peter

"It's okay to make mistakes because we covered them up so well that nobody noticed. I had lots of fun!" - Amber

The 5C Hosts were responsible for bringing our younger students along to the assembly and helping them out in many different ways. Here are some comments from students who served as 5C Hosts this morning:

"It was really fun to go to Mr. K's class and knock on his door." - Sophia

"It's really fun to go into a classroom and feel like you're the leader." - Cam

"It was nice walking into Class KS, i
ntroducing myself, and knowing that I knew some of the kids." - Natalie

"I was nervous at first because I'm really shy. But it turned out that all the kids in 2M were really friendly." - Jesse

Here's a photo of our five student emcees with the members of today's platform party: Mr. Sandrin, Mr. Hatch, Mrs. Richmond and Mr. Wright.

Our New Buddies - September 8th

This afternoon we met our new little buddies from Class 2N. Here are some photos of us getting to know each other:

Day One - September 1st

What a first day it was! The 22 students of 5C welcomed Alex G. to Wentworth, we discussed the Latin expression "tabula rasa", we tore open our EduPacs as though they were Christmas presents, we organized our school supplies meticulously, we had an energetic DPA session with Class 5S, and we each delivered a toast for a year filled with many successes and friendships. Congratulations to the students of 5C on a terrific, positive and productive first day!
