The author inspired us to read more books. Shane told us about his childhood and how when he was younger he really wanted to become a hockey player and that he didn't really like reading books. He later realized that he liked listening to his dad's nightly bedtime stories. He also told us that you can't just go home and write a book that will be published. He told us that aspiring authors need to work very hard and spend many hours and years in order to write one book.
He shared with us the information about the book he is working on right now, the fifth one in the boy Sherlock Holmes series. He also said that he likes odd things rather than normal things, and that he always tries to create some different characters in his books. We wish that we could have stayed longer and heard more about his books and how he writes them. This author visit was awesome and many of us look forward to reading the boy Sherlock Holmes series now!
